You will need:
A selection of vegetables (try white potato, sweet potato, parsnip, carrot, beetroot or green beans)
Sharp knife or mandoline
Rinse your vegetables thoroughly and thinly slice using a sharp knife or mandoline. Take care to keep slices uniform and similar in shape to keep the cooking time the same.
Place the slices on a baking tray and brush lightly with oil. Sprinkle with salt.
Place in oven and bake at 160 degrees C for 30 minutes, turning over half way through.
This simple method makes preparing vegetable crisps quick and versatile. Why not try experimenting with different vegetables and adding spices for a variety of different flavours.
Garlic salted vegetable crisps
If you’re a garlic fan, try substituting salt for garlic salt and sprinkling over your vegetables before baking.
Black pepper and parmesan
Replace salt with cracked black pepper and grated parmesan and bake as normal.
Sprinkle vegetables with paprika and a little salt for a spicy kick. This works especially well with sweet potato and carrot slices.
Sweet apple crisps
Your home made crisps don’t have to be restricted to vegetables! Thinly slice an apple and sprinkle with cinnamon and brown sugar for sweet, spicy crisps- perfect if you have a sweet tooth.
